As America into the melting pot is know as today, people from the European countries brought along things that were familiar to them and one of these things was snuff. In the 1700’s, nasal snuff was the most popular way to enjoy tobacco. It was so popular that the US Senate chambers had large snuff boxes installed so that Senators could have their snuff at all times and not have to leave the chambers to get more. In fact, these snuff boxes have been regularly refilled each day ever since they were installed back in the late 1700’s. Although today it’s more of a ritual since not many Senators use snuff. |
