Nasal Dry Snuff |
|
Nasal snuff, or dry snuff, is one of the oldest forms of smokeless tobacco still in use today. It’s origins are a bit sketchy but we can thank Jean Nicot back in the 1550’s for it’s popularity! Jean Nicot, for whom the scientific name “Nicotania” was named after, was the man who made the tobacco plant a household name back then. He took the tobacco leaves and ground them down into a fine powder and thus dry snuff was born. Nicot was not the one, per se, that invented nasal snuff, he was instrumental in making it extremely popular. Nicot introduced snuff to the french court where it became a hit with the aristocracy and gave it to Queen De Medici of Italy for use in treating her son’s migraines. |
